Poster Restoration & Linen Backing

AntikBar has teamed up with Poster Mountain, the world’s premier vintage poster and fine art conservation and restoration studio, to offer linen backing and restoration services.

Preserve and protect

Linen backing and restoring vintage posters using acid-free and reversible methods will preserve and protect these works of art, making them more durable and smoothing out minor paper folds and creases. Further restoration may be required for water staining, paper loss, mildew, colour fading etc. to bring a poster back to its original glory.

Poster Mountain

Based in California, USA, Poster Mountain’s international client base includes The Academy of Motion Pictures, Arts and Sciences (The Oscars) — the Margaret Herrick Library Graphic Arts Collection, MGM Studios, Universal Studios, Warner Bros. Studios, art galleries, dealers and private collectors.

How it works

1. Send or bring your poster — by registered mail or in person to AntikBar, 404 King’s Road, London SW10 0LJ. We will confirm receipt before sending it to be linen backed.
2. No extra postage — we take care of postage costs to and from Poster Mountain in California.
3. Photographed before and after — we send you a high-resolution photo and discuss any additional restoration that may be required.
4. Returned to London — if additional restoration was required, we issue a final invoice. Payment by bank transfer, PayPal, credit card, cash or cheque.
5. Collect or delivery — pick up your poster in person or we will send it to you; postage may apply and is invoiced separately.

Linen backing with the usual delivery time is 6–8 weeks. Please let us know in advance if you are in a rush, so we can coordinate your request with Poster Mountain and the shipping schedule.
